Turner & Looch (with Special Guest Mike Edwards) - Episode 7

All Hail The Glorious Return of Mike Edwards

This week we're joined by Mike Edwards from MovieVortex.com, who some of you may remember from Episode 3. Join us as we discuss Tron: Legacy, Catfish, Burlesque and all sorts of other things.

Also, if you skip to the bottom of this post, you can find the Best and Worst Films of 2010 podcast for MovieVortex that we recorded at the same time.

Index (m/s):

00:00 - 1:15 - Intro

01:15 - Preview of our Special MovieVortex Films Of The Year podcast, which can be found here and also below (see "BONUS FEATURE"). Lists compared. There's only one film that makes all three of our lists. Can you guess which one?

02:15 - 02:40 - BIO-pic vs Bi-OP-ic.

02.40 - 03:50 - Black Dynamite tomfoolery.

03:50 - 05:15 - Discussion of things we're looking forward to (and not looking forward to) in 2011. Seth Rogen hater revealed. Some editing skillz busted out.

05:15 - 10:00 - Tron: Legacy discussed. More editing skillz busted out. CGI Jeff Bridges dissed. Michael Sheen also dissed. Garrett Hedlund dissed. Olivia Wilde's costume enthused about. Link mentioned that I can't find (something about someone dancing in a Tron suit).

10:00 - 14:14 - SMOOTH TRANSITION! Catfish discussed, obliquely.

14:14 - 21:11 - Burlesque reviewed. SOMEONE revealed to have included Burlesque in their Top Ten Films of 2010. "IT'S NOT BURLESQUE!" Argument about what "burlesque" actually means. Cassam actually wrong for once. Proof: Cassam = wrong. Karaoke challenge laid down. "There's ballet dancers complaining about Black Swan..."

21:11 - 22:38 - Mike's entertaining RANT about the horror that is Fred: The Movie. "I actually felt like I'd been waterboarded after seeing it". And no catering!

22:38 - 25:00 - "One-line" review of Animals United 3D. James Corden dissed.

25:00 - 26:10 - "One-line" review of Cuckoo. Massive "one-line review" FAIL.

26:10 - 28:17 - "One-line" review of Loose Cannons. Loose Cannons discussed.

28:17 - 38:47 - MOVIE NEWS! RIP Blake Edwards (not Mike Edwards). Turner left callously unmoved. Celebrity split rejoiced about. "You're Very Tall". Downey Jr replaced in Gravity. SAG award nominations discussed. Some True Grit-based taunting occurs. Golden Globe "Musical or Comedy" category nominations derided. Agreement that Black Dynamite wuz robbed.

38:47 - 40:15 - Some Tangled-based taunting occurs. Tangled discussed by the two people who weren't embargoed on it.

40:15 - 47:00 - MOVIE NEWS CONTINUES! Jon Favreau not directing Iron Man 3. Good thing? Bad thing? Iron Man comic book geekery revealed. Two words: Bethany Cabe. (Fantasy casting of Bethany Cabe = Christina Hendricks). Captain America and Green Lantern movies speculated upon. Thor's chances pondered. Inevitable guesswork about the Avengers movie. Good Kenneth Branagh story from MovieCon. Green Hornet NOT discussed, because of embargos (and the fact that one of us hasn't seen it).

47:00 - 54:54 - Discussion of films we're looking forward to in 2011. Tree of Life trailer eulogised. Basically: CAN. NOT. WAIT. To see Blue Valentine twice or not to see Blue Valentine twice? MovieVortex plugged. Transformers 3 dreaded. Reactions to Pirates 4 trailer. Cassam's controversial theory that Pixar are "finished". Pixar slate discussed.

54:54 - 57:25 - Rang-go vs Range-o. "It's Rango because it rhymes with Django". Also: Sucker Punch, Superman, etc. Theories about how best to make a Superman film. Cassam, shockingly, declares himself "done with Superman".

57:25 - 58:00 - Outro.
